O canibal, o búfalo e o dragão: análise representativa dos personagens Hannibal Lecter, Jame Gumb e Francis Dolarhyde através do estilo fílmico (1991-2007)

Abstract

The following research presentes a brief visualization of how serial killers are represented throughout the history of cinema, starting with a supernatural imagery and ending with na empathetic view of the other side of the story, that of the victims. We also show how physical and psychological abuse in children results in dysfunctional and violent adults and how such neglect can be represented on screen. The caracters studied here, Hannibal Lecter, Jame Gumb and Francis Dolarhyde, are referred to as monsters, beings who were born and are pure evil on Earth. Last but not least, we understand how cinema acts, through the visual, as a means of bringing knowledge about these individuals to the public, since the film is easily accessible and can be consumed in the conforto of one’s own home. The analyzed works and characters presente a consistente notion of how a real serial killer is, or could be, when using real institutional studies and data.
