“Estamos todos exaustos!”: mudanças no cotidiano da enfermagem durante a pandemia da Covid-19

Abstract

This dissertation proposes to be a further contribution to studies in social sciences on the phenomenon of the pandemic and its impacts on social reality. Its object corresponds to nursing professionals, understood as one of the groups most exposed to the virus and, therefore, also more vulnerable to illness. Thus, the proposed objective is to reflect on the impacts of the pandemic on nursing professionals at the Teaching Hospital of Pelotas, emphasizing the implications of the pandemic on their daily work and on the relationships established. The methodological basis adopted corresponds to the Oral History (OH), which is understood by Meihy and Holland (2007) as a methodology of narrative construction, based on speech. It is used in the modality of Thematic Oral History (TOH), with a precise clipping around a specific theme. In this case, the theme corresponds to the daily aspects of nursing work during Covid-19. In addition, the research was based on a hybrid composition, associating TOH with a documentary analysis. In this sense, interviews were conducted with six nursing professionals: four nurses, one nursing technician and one nursing assistant. As well as, it was analyzed 75 bulletins issued between the years of 2020 e 2021 by the Covid-19 Committee instituted to manage the sanitary health crisis within the institution. The results were arranged in three chapters: the first one deals with health workers, mental illness and the challenges to the work world facing EBSERH, the second brings the discussion on the sociological meanings of the pandemic and the effect of the pandemic on health workers, the third shares the results of the documentary and field research conducted with nursing workers of HE -UFPEL.
