Povoado em abandono: caminhografia da hospitalidade em Cuñapirú – Corrales no Uruguai.

Abstract

The mining region of Cuñapirú - Corrales, located in northern Uruguay, initially rural, finds its moment in the historic discovery of gold in the region in 1820. From then on, the locality began to receive large foreign investments were responsible for the strong growth of the urban region in the locality. Such investments of European origin founded the town of Minas de Corrales due to the large labor force brought to the gold panning. However, after many years, there has been a decline in investments in the region coupled with natural disasters that have resulted in a population decrease and interest in mining activities, reaching the closure of several mines and deactivation of the Cuñapirú Plant. In this sense, urban abandonments in their entirety go unnoticed and misunderstood. For this reason, the aim of this research is to focus on the locality of Cuñapirú - Corrales, belonging to the Department of Rivera in Uruguay and to understand today, the fragmentation of spaces and the relationships and perceptions of individuals in the face of abandonment, comprising that this can be a potential producing territory of affective reactions and ritornellos. Thus, through the approximation between the theories of contemporary urbanism and French contemporary philosophy, the research addresses the themes and different meanings that the word abandonment can bring to the fore; it also brings hospitality and self-care to discussion, exploring which even hostile places can welcome and demonstrate a sense of belonging; as well as inserting a close relationship with the third landscape theory. The objective of this research is to map the spaces of the abandoned village, using urban walking as a method in order to map, analyze, experiment and embody meanings to think of abandonment as a polysemic condition of the contemporary landscape. The research reveal through the creation of sensitive maps and narratives, the potentialities that can be awakened and subverted in the place of abandonment, accepting the coexistence and the polysemys.
