A educação em saúde e o ensino de ciências e biologia no contexto de Escolas Públicas de Cristal/RS.

Abstract

This research aims to analise how Municipal and State schools teachers of the Cristal-RS Municipality have been working on health education in elementary and high school, what is the importance of this topic 􀂳health education in classroom􀂴 and how teacher􀂶s consider its atuation in Schools, taking into account their performance, whether initial or continuing. The sample consisted of 5 teachers, 3 of which were science teachers (elementary school), with 1 connected to the Municipal network and 2 to the State network. In the biology area (high school), there are 2 teachers, both connected to the State. Questionnaire was applied including closed-ended and open-ended questions. Data were evaluated qualitatively through descriptive analysis based on the authors who corroborate the study. Teachers demonstrated knowledge about the theme despite little training to work on Health Education themes in the classroom, but they consider this theme very important, relating the improvement of quality of life, to actions they develop in the classroom class. Health education guarantees students to make healthier choices in their lives. Development of joint actions uniting the school, family, community and teachers gives good results and also seeks to relate content to the students' daily lives. Even with the lack of training, little support from the school, absence of much time, they develop health education, highlighting the role of the teacher in changing healthy habits and attitudes and the need to always review their pedagogical practices. The analyzes indicate that the discussion about the role of the Science and Biology teacher as a health educator in the School is necessary and urgent, and that it is essential to debate this aspect in the training and performance of these professionals.
