Medo do Invisível: o terrorismo e o Temor Nuclear em desenhos animados estadunidenses (2001-2007).

Abstract

One of the most discussed topics in the media nowadays is the "terrorism." Always wrapped much speculation, prejudice and stereotypes, its threat appears to be truly dangerous. In this dissertation I try to talk about how the animation Justice League (2001-2004) and Justice League Unlimited (2004-2007) use the effervescence of this issue with the attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001 and during the disastrous war in Iraq (2003), noting the various contradictions and ways to express support and / or criticism of US foreign policy. Still within this perspective, one of the elements that has a reduced emphasis, but not least, are the nuclear weapons. The speeches of George W. Bush and Barack Obama are alert about the warning and threat of nuclear weapons; something that both is feared, but little is seen and spoken. This invisible fear is used in the animation as a way to relate the fictional narrative to reality. In an attempt to produce a decolonize history, I sought constitute a theoretical framework that was relevant and adaptable to this work, mixing authors and theoretical currents ranging from semiotics to the postmodern strand.
