Arquitetura ausente: o centro histórico de Pelotas, RS (1835 a 2011).

Abstract

Recognize the city past the origin of our history enabled the man as an individual or community, to keep alive the sense of belonging to the environment it inhabits. This particular memory directed the study of architecture away from the historic city of Pelotas (RS). This study redeemed through iconographic and written records, architectural heritage absent in the historical center of Pelotas, indicated their replacements constructive and promoted the reconstruction of the city's urban data. The construction of this memory built directed his research to the buildings surrounding the square Coronel Pedro Osório and took timeframe as the year 1835, when the elevation of the city to city, and the time it was made the plant the second allotment Pelotas region where the survey area is inserted. During the development of this rescue constructive identified iconographic and documentary deposited on different supports, such diversity of information elicited in the preparation of the inventory of knowledge of architecture away from the historic center of Pelotas, which was the second volume of the thesis presented. This tool enables to compile and organize the documents found, and also provided the identification of four different time periods. It was from the delineation of these four time bands that built the historic city of Pelotas could be described. The investigation of these four time periods allowed for understanding the urban transformations, in which the study area was submitted and caused the creation of an overall view of the modification of the urban landscape and the processes that formed these changes. In this context, it was found that the city followed the directions transformers driven, first, by economic gains in the first periods of recession and, in subsequent periods. It was also observed that the architectural expressions, embodied in buildings run along each period, linked to the specific regulations constructive force, and the architectures absent redeemed, demonstrated the conceptual gap in order to produce the architecture, among the first examples that occupied around the Square, and their replacements constructive.
