Universidade Federal de Pelotas à época da Ditadura Civil-Militar: memórias divergentes de uma trajetória

Abstract

The Civil-Military Dictatorship consists of the period from 1964 to 1985, in which the country was ruled by the military, characterized by lack of democracy, extinction of constitutional rights, censorship, political persecution and repression of all those who opposed it military regime. The policy of this regime with regard to universities implied in the combat and censorship of ideas considered leftist and anything considered dangerous and deviant, and created a huge legal legal system to maintain control on university campuses, among them, the so-called sectors Special Advisory Services on Security and Information (AESI). However, even the strongest controls have not stopped protests and student demonstrations that require improvements in the higher education system. In addition, the government decrees the reform of the university.And in this historical context began the trajectory of the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel), which was born observing the ideological precepts of the Dictatorship and University Reform, grouping the existing traditional faculties. At the time of its creation in full military regime, it does not live the traumatic moments of the teachers' purges, since these truculent acts occurred in their faculties in the predecessor administrations.Therefore, this work addresses the impact of the Civil-Military Dictatorship within the UFPel, seeking to contextualize, at a national and local level, facts and testimonies that help to tell its history.
