dc.description.abstractThis dissertation aims to analyze the behavior of Chinese think tanks, as instruments capable of promoting China's interests through the practice of scientific diplomacy within the BRICS Think Tank Council (BTTC), the think tank council that operates within the BRICS. In order to answer the following problem: how does the scientific diplomacy practiced by Chinese think tanks in the BTTC contribute to the projection of China's soft power and strategic interests in the multilateral scenario? An analysis of the main BTTC documents, official websites of the BTTC and the CCBTC (China Council for BRICS Think-tank Cooperation) will be carried out through content analysis in order to understand the performance of this council of Chinese think tanks representing within the BTTC. Furthermore, as a theoretical basis, the theoretical concepts of scientific diplomacy, its dimensions and China's diplomatic strategy will be explored. The hypothesis is the instrumentalization of the CCBTC as a tool capable of expanding and promoting China's interests through scientific cooperation within the BRICS. Increasingly intensifying China's protagonism inside and outside the grouping through its think tanks and the practice of scientific diplomacy taking into account its different dimensions.pt_BR

dc.description.resumoEsta dissertação tem como objetivo analisar o comportamento dos think tanks chineses, como instrumentos capazes de promover os interesses da China por meio da prática da diplomacia científica dentro do BRICS Think Tank Council (BTTC), o conselho de think tanks que opera dentro do BRICS. Para, assim, responder o seguinte problema: Como a diplomacia científica praticada pelos think tanks chineses no BTTC contribui para a projeção do soft power e dos interesses estratégicos da China no cenário multilateral?Será realizada através da a análise de conteúdo uma análise dos principais documentos do BTTC, sites oficiais do BTTC e do CCBTC (China Council for BRICS Think-tank Cooperation) a fim de compreender a atuação desse conselho de think tanks chineses representantes dentro do BTTC. Ademais, como base teórica, será explorado os conceitos teóricos da diplomacia científica, suas dimensões e a estratégia diplomática da China. Tem-se como hipótese a instrumentalização do CCBTC como uma ferramenta capaz de expandir e fomentar os interesses da China através da cooperação científica dentro do BRICS. Intensificando cada vez mais o protagonismo da China dentro e fora do agrupamento por meio dos seus think tanks e da prática da diplomacia científica contemplando as suas diferentes dimensões.pt_BR
