Contribuições teóricas e vivenciais de mulheres negras para a formação em psicologia na Universidade Federal do Rio Grande

Abstract

The general objective of this study aims to understand the training in psychology at the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG) from the experiential, theoretical and epistemological contributions of black students. This research is qualitative, consisting of a questionnaire and a semi-structured interview containing ten questions. Most of the interviews were carried out at the end of 2019, only one interview was carried out in the first half of 2020. We asked the researchers to choose the fictitious names to be used in this study, thus, they are called Okun —which means sea in the Yoruba language —, Celina, Girassol, Deusa — asked me to choose —, Kehinde — reference to Luísa Mahin —, Ryane — reference to poet Ryane Leão — and Resistance. The choice of the researches was carried out due to the fact that they and the author of this study shared experiences related to the process of academic formation, which served as the basis for the development of this research. In this way, we adopted the perspective of research between equals and research centered on subjects who recognize the different realities manifested by subjects considered protagonists and not objects of study. Some outcomes of this research refer to the fact that black women contest what is set in the academy, thus, they seek to bring other epistemes, theories and methodologies to the training process. In this way, a relational dynamic is established, with the tensioning of training in psychology on the part of women who need to reaffirm themselves in the face of the coloniality present in the curriculum. Black women are decolonized, as they refuse the formation that oppresses them. Therefore, no side remains the same. The researchers in this study are committed to a racialized, Afro-centered and decolonial education that encompasses training in psychology. When entering the university, black women play a fundamental role in training in psychology, as they invite all those who propose to educate and work professionally in the area to take responsibility for the process of formation and transformation of social and racial inequalities present in the social structure and training in psychology. The collectives are important for confronting the colonial formation. They are safe places of political and intellectual training for black women who together form a space of transgression and belonging.
